DuPont is a 3yo Vizsla/Lab mix who made his way into rescue from somewhere in the south. His story is now a year in the making and this page is dedicated to making sure that Pont's next home is his forever home.
DuPont has a ton of fabulous qualities, but he's not for the weak minded or the faint of heart. If you are considering bringing DuPont into your life, I
encourage you to read this blog in it's entirety and make sure that you are prepared for a dog like him.

The photos you see here of DuPont being relaxed and happy and fun are the result of hard work and structure. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. You do not have to run him 5K every day, but you do have to put him to work and ask things of him on a daily basis.
The result? A calm and happy household.

DuPont's Wardrobe

Yeah, I said wardrobe.

I swear I didn't mean to go a whole month without posting anything!  But between Christmas and trying to keep the furry creatures within my household happy during a season when exercise is next to impossible, well, blog time got away from me.

I mean there was time, technically.  I had damn near two weeks off to sit at home and do whatever I pleased.  But if you had to choose between blogging about a dog, or sitting on the couch watching Christmas movies sipping Pumpkin Spice coffee and snuggling with that dog, which would you choose?

Yeah, that's what I thought.

In all honestly, I have spent more time dressing DuPont up than I have done anything else. Except snuggling. Snuggling and dressing him up. But it's not like I enjoy doing it *big fat lie!* and really, it's necessary given how cold it's been. He's whole underside is pretty much bald, you know.

DuPont has made himself many new admirer friends on Facebook, and his new friend Molly made and sent him this adorable polka dot fleece sweatshirt!

Pont loves his new sweatshirt! But it always gives me a giggle because when he's up and walking in it, he looks like a circus misfit.

His feet are also incredibly sensitive to the cold and he hardly has time to do his business before he's trying to get around on two legs. So we've been desensitizing his feet to these crazy things. Dog booties.

We have managed to get all four on at this point and he doesn't seem to mind them terribly, however I can't seem to get them strapped tight enough to stay on. It always seems like one has to fall off randomly. But at least he's being a good boy about it. There was a time when handling Pont's feet was next to impossible, so this is a big step for him.

Next, we have the Snood that his friend Sarah made for him!

This Snood is long enough so that on really windy days, I can bring it up and over his ears like a hood. The green plaid really does make him look very regal, wouldn't you agree?

And of course, we cannot forget SantaPont.

I promise, he enjoys being all gussed up. It's not just for my own entertainment and I wouldn't do it if he was uncomfortable with it.   He's pretty much covered from head to toe now when we go out for walks, though I do try to keep them short and we don't go out on below zero days. And I will admit here and only here, that there was one time when I had to go shovel the sidewalk and I used his Snood as a scarf to keep my neck warm. That's all I'm saying about that.
